Maggie Rogers has made an exciting announcement for her fans – her third studio album, “Don’t Forget Me,” will be released by Capitol Records on April 12th.
The singer-songwriter also released the album’s title track, which comes with an eye-catching Super 8-shot music video that gives fans a taste of the album’s nostalgic feel.
The Making of “Don’t Forget Me”
Over five hard days in late 2022 and early 2023, Rogers wrote the entire album. Together with her only partner on this musical excitement, Ian Fitchuk, Rogers co-wrote eight of the album’s ten tracks.
Along with being a co-writer, Fitchuk was also a major co-producer and multi-instrumentalist, which helped to shape the deep feel of “Don’t Forget Me.”
According to Rogers, the idea behind the record was to gather a list of songs that caught the joy of a Sunday afternoon.
She imagined a character who would be similar to a modern Thelma & Louise, leaving behind the familiar in favor of the unfamiliar, and she wanted to convey the feeling of a road journey through the American South and West.

Roots of Story and Combined Magic
According to Rogers, the songs on “Don’t Forget Me” create a story that combines fiction with real-life situations.
Every tune on the album represents a new phase in the protagonist’s life, and the whole thing progresses like a journey.

While some of the stories are the author’s own, others are based on news articles or the inspiration of friends. The album is a combination of fact and fantasy.
Ian Fitchuk was not just a collaborator on the project; he became an essential member of the production team. The talented team showcased a smooth creative chemistry by co-writing eight of the 10 tunes.
The majority of the performances on the CD are first takes, thereby keeping the pure, raw spirit of the creative process.
The recordings, which were first supposed to be retaken with a band, took a surprising turn. Trying to change the arrangements felt like a loss of something important.
Realizing the magical quality of the original recordings, Rogers and Fitchuk purposefully decided to maintain the reality of the performances, accepting the flaws that give the record a genuine, human feel.
The Sound of Homecoming
Rogers describes “Don’t Forget Me” as a return to music and songwriting based on the early stages of her artistic journey while this CD exudes warmth and familiarity and shows a relaxed, sassy, and funny side of her the size rarely seen in public.
The songs were meant to be an album for long tours only; It’s stressful and simple, like a typical Sunday afternoon.
Compared to ugly magazine entries, the Title track “Don’t Forget Me” talks about the difficulties of attending friends’ weddings as they go through different life stages Rogers playfully suggests that the song is about low expectations, however, it’s really about the human need for lasting love and meaningful relationships.
Rogers wrote a heartfelt thank you note for the incredible and transformative moments that occurred while writing “Don’t Forget Me.”
Reflecting her true personality, her record stems from a constant gratitude that allows her to grow at her own pace.
Rogers is asking fans to join him on this musical journey as he eagerly awaits the release of the album, promising an album filled with love, sadness, and a slightly rebellious attitude.
