Show mocks marketing hype from Microsoft and Sony, while savaging Black Friday consumer excesses

South Park‘s latest episode savagely parodies Black Friday holiday shopping excesses — while also drafting off the hype surrounding the looming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launches.
In “Black Friday,” the South Park kids split into warring factions a la “Game of Thrones.” The ep takes delight in mocking the marketing spiels from each company.
“Stan, the PS4 doesn’t have the seamless transition between games, movies and TV offered by Xbox One,” Kyle says. Responds Stan: “The PS4 controller has a touchpad interface!” Cartman, who’s on Team Xbox, adds: “Let these Sony (expletive) wallow in their limited voice-control functionality.”
Sony’s PS4 goes on sale this Friday, while Microsoft will launch Xbox One a week later. Coincidentally or not, Xbox One is one of the advertisers in the South Park episode online.
