All waste and recycling collection days will change in Wiltshire over the festive holiday period, as there will be no collections taking place on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Toby Sturgis, cabinet member for waste services, said:
“New waste and recycling collection calendars were sent out in October to every household in Wiltshire. These calendars show the revised collection days over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Anyone who has lost their calendar can check their collection dates online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk or by calling the council on 0300 456 0102.”
Garden waste collections will be suspended between December 24 and January 7. Real Christmas trees can be left alongside garden waste bins for collection from January 8. Christmas trees will be collected until the end of January only.
Alternatively people can recycle Christmas trees at any of Wiltshire’s 11 Household Recycling Centres (HRC). All HRCs will be closed from 1pm on Christmas Eve, and all day Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. At all other times the centres are open during normal winter opening hours. More information is available at www.recycleforwiltshire.com.
Bins should go out by 7am on the scheduled collection day and all waste should be in the bin with the lid closed.
